Kevin’s Upgrade #1, Build Plate
Description The default build plate on a Creality CR-10S consists of a glass plate on top or the aluminium heat plate. This bed is notorious for not being level and also creating difficulty with bed adhesion. I had to concur with this when I received my CR-10S and one of the first upgrades I did was to replace it with a Lote glass tile from IKEA. This was successful to some degree but I still found myself looking at gluesticks…
Kevin’s Getting a Brain Transplant and a Facelift
As part of my bonus this year I decided to purchase some upgrades for my Creality CR-10S printer. These include a new controller board, new bowden tube and connectors, a new part cooling fan and a new build plate. These were all purchased from TH3D and are currently somewhere between Chicago and my house. As a result of these upgrades I am going to have to print a new cooling duct to fit the 5015 cooling fan hence the facelift…
More on Alice
Continuing on the Alice in Wonderland theme. This is the latest in the series I am printing for Wendy for the cat show. I am really impressed with this model. It may be hard to see from the photograph but this model has the most amazing eyes. They were built in three layers to give real depth. These prints have really challenged my 3D printer and, as a consequence, have lead me to tuning the hardware and software settings for…
Down the Rabbit Hole
This is what you do when you have a 3D printer and 10 days off work Every component is a separate filament colour. Lots of filament changes. It didn’t go totally without problems! I had to print the numbers about four times to get a complete set and develop a new profile for my printer for some of the smaller, tall components but after four days of printing and frustration It is finally done.

CReality CR-10S 3D Printer
I recently purchased a CReality CR-10S 3D printer from a local ebay supplier. The two main drivers for this were build space and also supportability and accuracy of printing vs my existing Vector V3 printer. My build volume has increased from a 120x120x150mm build volume to a 300x300x400 which is a substantial distance in space and allows me to print items in a single print that I would previously have had to split into multiple parts and then build together….
