One Week in Sydney
Just finished my first week of a three month contract in Sydney and it has been a real rollercoaster. Leaving Wendy and David at the airport in Melbourne was one of the hardest things I have had to do in a long time.

It was a hot one today, so Wendy decided that David needed a little cooling off. She had purchased a slip n slide last season that got no use so thought it would be a good day to get it out and give it a try. It all started off really badly with no hose fittings that would fit the slide but, after modifying the front hose and finding some other couplings the problem was solved. The slip n slide was…
I decided to make use of some tech I had lying around the house. There was no real need for this as I have most of my streaming and viewing issues solved, but a friend had asked about using a Raspberry Pi as a PVR as well as for watching pre-recorded media so I thought I would cobble together something from what I had lying around the house. You will need: Raspberry Pi Sony PS3 PlayTV device (or other USB…
A Christmas classic around here, a lovely combination of Egg, Potato and Salami. Go easy on the dressing with this one
I guess this post is well overdue, as I graded to 7th Kyu Ho several weeks ago. So now I am a yellow belt with an orange tip and David is an Orange belt. Hopefully I will grade to orange early next month. David and my big focus at the moment is a tournament coming up this weekend. We are both entered in kata and kumite (sparring) and I think we are both getting more and more nervous the closer…
No photo on this one yet as I haven’t stolen one off Wendy but David had another successful grading on Sunday. He is now 7th Kyu (Orange belt), so he is two grades ahead of me. Well, until tomorrow night anyway when I should get my 7th Kyu Ho marking the halfway point to my 7th Kyu. David was a lot more nervous on Sunday than I expected him to be. We finally got there, registered and into the Dojo….
David started Karate late last year. Since I have been working at home a lot this year I found myself taking him to class on many occasions. After a month or so of this I got tired of watching the class from the back of the gym and decided to sign up and join in. By the time I joined David had already achieved his 8th Kyu (yellow belt). In the time since I started he has achieved his 7th…
But I finally got around to reviewing my pics from the Melbourne Garden Expo. Here is one of my favourite shots:
Well, the Berwick show is over for another year. Wendy (http://www.facebook.com/wendy.pearce.77/posts/552394071452320) did pretty well but I have to say that David (http://www.facebook.com/wendy.pearce.77/posts/552392824785778) took it away with two Best Exhibit ribbons. Well done to the pair of you. Maybe I will get off my butt and put in some photo’s next year.
David and I have been talking about this for a while and, due to the fact that he actually practiced during the Christmas holidays, David is now the proud owner of an SX Electric Guitar and Amp. It is a black Stratocaster (I think) replica. He took it to his lesson on Tuesday but his teacher did not have an amp setup in the music room so he couldn’t play it. They have agreed to alternate, one week acoustic one week electric and he…
