I was having a discussion with David on the way to school this morning.  We were talking about how some of his friends call him Dave rather than David.  He was saying that some of them think it is spelt “Dav” when it should really be spelt “Dave”.  My comment was something about “remember the bossy e” to which i was informed it is not called a “bossy e” it is a “split diagraph”.

David then explained to me about what a diagraph, split diagraph and trigraph were.  It is rare that he teaches me something new but he did today.  It is good to see that they are teaching concepts behind reading and writing as well as teaching the base skill.
