A New Belt for Father’s Day

A New Belt for Father’s Day

This post is a little late but I thought I would put something up about my father’s day weekend.  It started off as pretty much any normal weekend with me getting up on Saturday morning to go to karate training.  Two big differences happened here.  The first is that I only did one hours training rather than two, the other is that I picked up a grading slip for the grading session on the Sunday.

Olinda Falls

Olinda Falls

A couple of weeks ago we went for a drive into the Dandenong’s and had a look for Olinda Falls.  Coming from NZ I guess I was expecting something a little bigger than this, but it turned out to be a very enjoyable day, although we do have to work on Wendy and David’s fitness.  As you can see either David grew into a giant or they are little falls.

Too Cute in the Garden

Too Cute in the Garden

Wendy was busy doing some weeding and pruning this weekend prior to us putting up the christmas lights on the house when she came across this hidden in one of the bushes in the corner.  Strangely enough the bush did not get pruned back at all to the extent intended.  Now we are just hoping that doofas won’t find it and try and prove what a man he is.

One Week in Sydney

One Week in Sydney

Just finished my first week of a three month contract in Sydney and it has been a real rollercoaster.  Leaving Wendy and David at the airport in Melbourne was one of the hardest things I have had to do in a long time.

Wet in the Heat

Wet in the Heat

It was a hot one today, so Wendy decided that David needed a little cooling off.  She had purchased a slip n slide last season that got no use so thought it would be a good day to get it out and give it a try.  It all started off really badly with no hose fittings that would fit the slide but, after modifying the front hose and finding some other couplings the problem was solved.  The slip n slide was…

Two grades up, I have some catching to do

Two grades up, I have some catching to do

No photo on this one yet as I haven’t stolen one off Wendy but David had another successful grading on Sunday.  He is now 7th Kyu (Orange belt), so he is two grades ahead of me.  Well, until tomorrow night anyway when I should get my 7th Kyu Ho marking the halfway point to my 7th Kyu. David was a lot more nervous on Sunday than I expected him to be.  We finally got there, registered and into the Dojo….

8th Kyu for Antony, 7th Kyu Ho for David

8th Kyu for Antony, 7th Kyu Ho for David

David started Karate late last year.  Since I have been working at home a lot this year I found myself taking him to class on many occasions.  After a month or so of this I got tired of watching the class from the back of the gym and decided to sign up and join in.  By the time I joined David had already achieved his 8th Kyu (yellow belt). In the time since I started he has achieved his 7th…

Berwick Show – Well done Wendy and David

Berwick Show – Well done Wendy and David

Well, the Berwick show is over for another year.  Wendy (http://www.facebook.com/wendy.pearce.77/posts/552394071452320) did pretty well but I have to say that David (http://www.facebook.com/wendy.pearce.77/posts/552392824785778) took it away with two Best Exhibit ribbons.  Well done to the pair of you.  Maybe I will get off my butt and put in some photo’s next year.

David’s Gone Electric

David’s Gone Electric

David and I have been talking about this for a while and, due to the fact that he actually practiced during the Christmas holidays, David is now the proud owner of an SX Electric Guitar and Amp.  It is a black Stratocaster (I think) replica. He took it to his lesson on Tuesday but his teacher did not have an amp setup in the music room so he couldn’t play it.  They have agreed to alternate, one week acoustic one week electric and he…
